The flame scallops I have owned have never been bothered by any of my tank inhabitants. They do however need a water column filled w/nutrients (filter foods)...so much so that it would be unhealthy for the rest of your tank life, plus they don't tend to live very long because our tanks tend to be too clean to suffice their filter feeding.

I agree that the scallops really should be left in the ocean. Far too few tanks are actually suitable for the survival of this invert. I would not be surprised if 90% of the scallops sold in the trade end up dyingin home aquaria. Would not recommend purchasing.

Apart from being very difficult to keep, and tending to move where ever the heck they want (including out of sight), your chocolate chip would love to eat a scallop.
I also strongly encourage you to do some research on sea apples, which really require some specialized care and a species only tank, IMO. They do run the risk of killing the fish in your tank if water conditions are not pristine, if they become stressed, or if they get caught in a power head. Definitely requires some second thoughts or specialized care at the very least. Be sure you feed it properly.
And, an FYI. This site is hosted by SWF, and it is a courtesy not to inquire about competitors here :) This site also sells a number of fine reef packages. :D ;)

Because it has been removed from the original post, instead of removing the whole thread.
