Flat worm exit/feather duster

I just used the Salifert in my tanks. I only have the little hitch hiker feather dusters it did not seem to bother them or anything else except the flatworms. I had to use twice the recommended dose in my 55 and 29 and I am happy to say that I am flatworm free.

My 6 line didn't touch them. FE works well and will not harm anything in your tank if you follow the directions, which is to run carbon after treatment. I say this, so that if you do end up ordering it then you will know to order carbon as well.

I hope that they will take care of my flatworm problem but I am buying carbon as well just in case I hope the wrasse will get along with my other fish??? I didnt check first I havent added anything in more than a year!!

:help: :help: I dont know if I was supose to run the carbon as soon as the worms were dieing??? Anyway I didnt and I had to put in half the dose again to kill them as soon as I did this more died but my stars one brittlestar and one chocolate chip went dead the brittle ran out of the rocks and I picked it up and put it into my 20 gallons of fresh make up water I think they both might make it??? I dont know how long I should wait to put them back in and should I change out more water? Also some fish are missing and my snails died I am rumnning two emporer 400s and a magnum 350 with carbon my corals are all shriveled and my copods are flooting around!!! My six line wrasse is gone,last I saw him he was going nuts!!! Help please shpuld I do another change in the water? I sucked up as much as I could and did a water change before the poison and one after but fish are still acting wild in the tank. :help:

WOW slow down.........First off yuy treat with the chemical, and leave it for a period of time (as per instructions) Instructions also tell you to have activated carbon on hand, and it tells you when to use that carbon, and IIRC it also tells you its a good idea to have more water made up incase a water change is necessary if fish become stressed......Please read and follow your instructions on chemical doses or such before usuing and know that you understand them or risk killing yur livestock. IIRC it also says to suck up as many flatworms beforehand so there is less toxins in the water once they are killed off. Water change was to be done after the poison not before........why stress the fish more than necessary. I have used flatworm exit before in a tank loaded with critters and corals and nothing was killed or wiped out except for the flatworms. Its safe stuff if instuctions are followed.
Natural methods may be fine for some, but perhaps some folks do not want a wrasse intheir tank afterwards........nothing wrong with Salifert Flatworm Exit if instructions are closely followed.

:help: I did the water change in the begining to suckout as many as I could get I had an extreme breakout of them I tried to get them with the gravel washer but it didnt work, neither did the turkey baster. I am running carbon but when should I replace it with new? Should I do another water change? I did one after treating it already was that enough?

I lost coals from the flatworms not the from the cure. I did loose a bunch of the little hitchhiker brittles. They came out floating pretty fast not as fast as the flat worms though. Knock on wood, I haven't seen any flatworms in that last 4 weeks. Fish seemed to start breathing heavy when the flat's started dying during the treatment. Had 90 gals of change water prepared (took a week for that) and carbon. I put the carbon in and changed out the water. All the fish are fine, only thing I lost were flatworms and brittles. Some of the brittles survived, I hope none of the flat's made it, but on a lookout...

Darn I wish I would have gotten one of them I have about 10 lbs of carbon and the skimmer is really pulling out some stuff! I still havent put the stars back in yet I do have more water made up I wonder if I should do another change? I hope I got them all!!

The skimmate was almost black for about 3 days. It's a shame they don't say anything about Brittle stars being affected. I would have treated anyway, but it would have been nice to see a warning. I used Salifert FE. I held off too long to treat as I lost a bunch of corals. Live and learn....
