I just added flatworm exit to my tank the other day, becuase it supposedly kills only flatworms. It worked great and my tank is now flatworm free, but it may have had some side effects. My cleanup crew is not moving, my snails are alive but dont forage, and my hermits dont coome outa thier shells. Also my super green zoos are not opening. After 45 min, i did a 3 gallon water change, and started to run carbon. What do i do, any help is appreciated.

you always have to be careful when adding chems to your tank. It might of had a side effect on your clean-up? not completely sure but thats what it sounds light and your gonna need more clean-up. do another water change trying to get rid of that stuff. thats all i can think of.

Yeah i am always hesitant about adding chems becuase of side affects but everyone i spoke to said this stuff was the best, and right after i used it I noticed thousands of little flatworms dead and flying around in the tank. I was wondering if lets say 200 flatworms died, would that be enough to affect everything else.

i would'nt think so, if you get them out and not let them float around. i wouldn't think that teh dead worms owuld have an effect on the inverts. I think i was teh chems adn need to get it out. Does it say its reef safe? What is this product?

This is from a website selling flatworm Exit:
"Flatworm eXit itself is quite safe to fish and invertebrates. However, the body juice of flatworms can be toxic to some reef inhabitants when present in a too high concentration. This body juice is sometimes excreted when flatworms die.
So when you use this product it is important to do the following first:
Siphon out as many flatworms as possible.
Keep sufficient fresh activated carbon in a canister ready.
Turn off UV, ozone and remove activated carbon. Keep the skimmer turned on."

i did all that, even replaced my old carbon. after i saw all the flatworms, i siphoned out the one flying in the current, and did a 15% water change. So im not sure why this happened. All of the directions were followed

My LFS guy was telling me about Exit last week. He used it for flatworms, which it did take care of. He also showed me a big fat bristleworm (dead) that he said he assumed was caused by the Exit. Mind you, I didn't look for his inverts, but I know he would have told me if it had harmed them.
He suggested it for my bristleworm problem. I decided against it though, because we weren't sure how it would affect the pod population. I can't tolerate additives. They are never without a flip-side.
I bought a wrasse, instead and all the smaller worms are gone.

my pod population was not affected after using it which was a deff. plus. i would deff reccommend it for taking care of flatworms tho. but ive never heard of it working on bristle worms.
hope everything works out

I've used it before and none of my wanted inverts died. I have shrimps, crabs, and snails.
The water change should be larger, more like 40-50% to remove the toxins left by the flatworms and the flatworm exit.
