FLBoy's 29 gallon reef

I decided to move the images of my new tank to there own thread so i can start fresh and forget the memories of my craptastic 20 gallon long.
After countless hours of wasted time searching for bigger tanks on craigslist this 29 gallon beauty was under my nose the whole time. A friend of mine works in the IT department at my school and told me his buddy had just graduated, taken a job in Florida and needed to dump his old tank, SOO...... for only $100 I was able to pick up:
1.) A Corallife 30" fixture, "Double Linear Strip with 50/50 Compact Fluorescent Lamps, 2 on/off switches, 2 - 8 foot power cords for separate timers, 2 cooling fans, built-in ballasts, sleek aluminum housing, highly-polished reflector and acrylic lens cover"
2.) Two Maxi-Jet 1200 Power heads which have an output of 295gph (590gph total)
3.) A whisper 60 Power filter to run carbon (330gph). I might take on side of the filter and make a fuge out of it like I planned to do with my old Emperor 400
4.) JEBO Protein Skimmer 180. I know what everyone is going to say and yes as soon as I put fish in there (3 months from now) I will upgrade to a better piece of equipment.
5.) And finally, 4 inch bed of LS as well as probably 35lbs of honestly the nicest LR I have ever seen, which, unknown had the time has a large Xenia tree on it and a bunch of small colonies of Zoo's. Because the lights have been off in the tank for probally 2-3 weeks the Zoos have "turtled" back into their shafts but I am confident they will be fine.
Sorry if the pictures aren't great quality I had to use my Blackberry since my girl friend misplaced my digital.

with that whisper60 filter i would use half of it as a fuge and in the other half i would pack in some chemi-pure and filter floss! what fish are you thinking of puting in the tank?

Hey Acros, it seems like your the only one ever interested in my stuff, but i guess that is understandable because my photos suck right now! haha I am deff going to do that with the side of the whisper, but the only thing that isnt cool is that the heater is to long to fit in there :( lame.....

Wow, what a find

Tank looks nice, and you were right about the live rock, it looks like it has plenty of coraline on it already. Good luck and keep us posted

AcroShark - I probally could hide the heater but I am wary of placing it to low to the sand (I think I may have made up the idea that this could be a problem but you tell me) haha
Subielover - NICE I FINALLY HAVE ANOTHER FOLLOWER, HAHA! thank you very much for your kind words I appreciate it! I will be going to the gf's house this weekend for "dinner" (really just wanna see my tank haha)

Awesome find for $100 clams! Seriously. I agree, nice rocks.
As for the heater, I don't see why you couldn't mount it low. Give it a try. And yeah, your photos do kinda suck
, but hey, what can *I* say about it when I don't have any posted? eh?

Hey saz,
Thanks for the post it always makes my day when I get to read something new on SWF.com. This weekend I am going to change the heater after i buy some new suction cups (my gf's dad told me the heater wasnt sticking presumingly because the cups r so old).
As for the pictures, I can't wait to take new ones this weekend once my gf finds my very nice digital camera. I am hoping by this weekend the zoo's and Xenia will be healthy and full of life again.
Thanks for your interest Saz

Nice rocks! Make sure that large one on top is secure and will not fall forward. And I do see any reason why you couldn't put the heater near the sand. I've seen others do it with no worries.

Ok so i know for 2 weeks now I have been saying I will post new pictures. Well i finally took some... again I apologize im using my blackberry's camera since my gf lost the cords to my digital. I did some new aquascaping and check up on the corals a bit. The zoo's still havent come out of their "stock" so im not sure what is wrong but i'll figure it out
