Floating stuff!?!

My tanks seems to have alot of stuff floating in the water. I have unpluged my skimmer and it is still there so I dont think it is air. I have unpluged my HOB filter and it is still there. What can it be and what are some good methods to clear up the water? This is in a 75gal with 2 PH, HOB filter, skimmer,and a sand bed. I recently took the filter pads out of my tank, I wonder if that could clear it up but I have always had some stuff floating around. I would love a crystal clear tank though!!!

i hv had the same stuff 3 weeks ago. i put in a surface skimmer adapter to my protein skimmer, and it cleared way.

My stuff is all over and differnt levels though. I have been wanting a surface adapter anyways so what an excuse. Would carbon help since they says it is a water polisher?

Your problem is, that you need to skim closer to the surface, that's where a large majority of the protein lays...do you have a protein skimmer? of not pick up one...even a seaclone is better than no skimmer...get the prizm pro deluxe, there not bad for there price, if your in a pinch...

Wow, the skimmer is last thing I would have thought to control floating particles in the water. Yes I do have a prizm just not a surface mount kit.
