well i set my tank up last saturday, i put 150 lbs of somoan pink sand, i filled the tank up it didnt really cloud. then the next day it was getting cloudy, now this morning before i left for work i looked up at the top on the water and see some kind of floating stuff on the top of the water, i cant net it out and have no idea what it is. the LFS told me not to rinse the sand so i keep the fine particles....any idea what this is? i am adding LR to this tank tomorrow so should i like change out some of the water or go ahead and add the LR, i am also adding LS that i ordered from here thursday...going to put that in the fuge and my tank. my maxi's wont be here till tomorrow so all i have in there for filters in one rio 1100 and my emty Fuge running....any advis is appreciated.

It may just be dust from the sand. That happen to me with the southdown. You could just skim it off or it may settle on it's own.

Sand can foam at the top especially if you are running your filters. Just use your hand to break it up. It will all eventually settle once it gets populated by bacteria.

Happenned to me also, I just used a fine strainer from the kitchen (clean) for the majority of it, the little remaining disappeared on it's own.
