Florida Joe...Anyone...I hate my tank right now and want some advice :)

So here it is, I pretty much hate my tank right now. The aquascaping is horrible and the corals look like they are just thrown in there. I am having issues with cyano, which I believe is attributed to poor flow (due to the horrible rock lay out) too much light and my skimmer being offline. I am taking drastic measures tomorrow and doing a massive water change/cleaning. I have plenty of water made up to do small water changes after the cleaning to control any spikes that will occur. I just would like some guidance on my rockwork and powerhead configuration. I have two mp 10's, a koralia nano, and two maxi jets that I can put in the tank. I also run a Fluval canister filter.
Here's the disgusting mess of a tank that I have:

lol you sound like me. In the near future I am planning a complete over haul too. I am tired of the rock wall look and the algea in my tank. haha I want to either drill or use mortor from marco rock to build two rock formations on either side of my 150.
Good luck

Take off the background and replace it with a black one. Change your rock work around some. Move your corals around some. Buy a centerpiece coral. Change up your lighting? Add some interesting macro algae. Ummmm,......

My rock work is being completely demolished tomorrow, as well as the corals. Any ideas for placement? I want a centerpiece coral. I just haven't found the one for my tank. Once my job figures out how to pay me right I am going to purchase new bulbs or might even go LED. Macro algae is a no go for my tank. I have a lemon peel angel and tang in it. I will probably add any excess macro from my horse tank when the time comes.
This tank is just ticking me off.

Maybe some new colors on your bulbs might change the way you feel about your tank, I think you have T5HO - get a couple Purple + and super blue and like snake said paint the back black might give you some depth

I built my rocks high on one side and tappered down...I also made a huge cave. A nice bright colored coral in the center is a great idea. The background change was another good suggestion, it makes the fish and coral colors stand out. I don't think your tank looks all that bad either, but if you are not happy that's all that matters....change it.

I would be happy with what you have it looks successful and better then what I have. Flower said it right if your not happy that's all that matters.

Krista, if you are unhappy with your tank, then redo it. Take your time and make it pleasing for you. I think I could see a bright orange monti cap in there too! Maybe a setosa, some nuc. greens, and a hammer. :)

If it were me, I would break up the levelness of the rockwork. Bring a bit forward, push a bit back, stack it up here, lower it down there. Maybe add a piece or two if needed.
I agree with Flower and Snake about the background.

Randomly pick out a picture of a mountain range with a valley below. Imagine the tank looking like that.

Can you see the 'nem? Its on the left bank of the lake.

Can you do a whole tank picture? Have you done a breakdown of your tank before and know what to do with your corals and fish while this goes on?

I bet if you just change the background out, remove algae and remove 1/8 layer of sand, your tank would look completely different. And go buy yourself a new coral you deserve it.
