Flowerpot Had Babies... Time for Payback!

Holy crap batman! So, this new flowerpot that we rescued from certain death and brought back to health had babies tonight. 2 Small round babies dropped off with about 5 - 6 small polyps on each little offspring. As I looked at the backside, it looks like 3 more are forming.
I will post some pics tomorrow when I can get a better shot.
As some of you may know, I had a bad tank crash while I was deployed and some of you graciously donated to help me get my tank back up. To those who did donated, I would like to give you one of the offspring if you want one. The people who donated ( We know who you are) have first dibs. If they dont want one, then its open season to anyone who wants one.
I am already going to have to look for a new home for the mom. She has at least doubled in size since I got her and eats mysis shrimp every couple days. She is about ready to overgrow the tank. If any of you might want to trade for the largest Flowerpot I have ever seen, shoot me an e-mail at Josh81@yahoo.com.
So, for those of you who donated, you have first dibs on a new free flowerpot baby. Its only the begginig of paying you all back for your help in my time of need.

Yeah, 3 more little ones dropped off last night. Again, people who donated get first dibs and anyone else who wants one gets one.

WOW I thought flower pots was one of those corals that lasted like 8 to 9 mo. and died in even the best of tanks.. I never tried one for that reason. You must have one heck of a healthy tank!
btw.. would love to see some pics if you own a camera :D I think thats amazing!

I have to go get some new batteries for the digital today and I will post some pics tonight.
I dont know if I have good luck with them or not, but I have owned 2 flower pots. The one I have now.... which reproduced and I had one before the tank crashed which also reproduced.... see link below.

Tank is a 29 gallon. I am using a fluval 404 until i can get my refugium/sump working again. Tank specs are the usual... 0 on Ammonia and Nitrite and my nitrates are a bit high due to the fluval with a reading of about 10-12 ppm. Calc is a bit high at 480. (see other post of cal and alk being off) Salinity is 1.025 and temp is 79-80F. Flow is low to medium where the flowerpot is located. The mothers polyps are about 8-10 inches or longer when extended and flow like wheat fields in the wind. When I first got it... is was shrivled up and polyps werent more then 4 inches and super skinny.
Lighting is on for 12 hours from 10 am to 10 pm.
Feeding.... I alternate between frozen mysis and a frozen carnivore cube every other day. I add 2 drops of Garlic Extract for the excess that the flower pot dosent catch and gets eaten by everyone else. (the fish like it and I think it helps their immune system) I suck it into a turkey baster and squirt just up stream from the flowerpot. You can watch the polyps grab the food and close around it like an anemone. The polyps suck back in... devour the food and extend back out in about 30 minutes.

Here are 2 pics of the babies and 1 of the mom. Sorry the mother pot is blowing in the water flow and couldnt get it to focus right. Its had to get a pic of the other 2 babies but I will try tonight when the large one closes up.

What do you mean? On each of the smaller ones there are abour 3-4 super tiny polyps around the sides. There is a hard skeleton in there too. It didnt reproduce? The flowerpot is eating very well and shows no signs of stress.

polyp bail out could mean that the mother colony is stressed and in an attempts to survive, it releases polyps in hope to re-populate. its sort of like the mother colony is dieng so it releases parts of itself so if the mother colony dies, hopefully the smaller ones will live and create new mother colonies thus keeping the species alive.
im not saying that the mother colony will die, but this is usually why this happens. and the "babies" could live.

and just because the flowerpot is eating doesnt mean its healthy. most flowerpots die in captivity within months. you could have a healthy colony and overnight it could die. and polyp bail out would be considered a sign of stress.

this defintily doesnt look like polyp bail out. The only time I have ever seen polyp bail out is when the coral looks like absolute garbage and then starts dropping off. You see this a lot in the softies, such as neospongodes. Whatever you are doing, keep it up
If you read some of Bornemans books he goes on to say the Flower Pots do better in nutrient rich water. I am curious to see how it will do once you get your trates down to 0.

Lol... good point. I heard the same thing from Goniopora.org. I think it may be dumb luck with my high nitrates (10-12 ppm) that is making it happy. Not sure... just know it looks healthy and the little pots are growing and look happy.

I had a box of asst come in a while ago and there was some Puple Flower pots which where very pretty. By far my favorite type of flower pot.

I have a 96 watt PC and a 18 watt dual T-5. I have a MH light in the closet but everything seems to be happy and healthy without it. So, I am going to upgrade to a 125 in about 4 months and will use it on there.
