Hey pleasant, I won't presume to speak for Henry, but I think you just got in ahead of his post. Generally speaking most types of mushroom corals are pretty similar and IMO one of the lowest light demanding corals. Personally I think its just a matter of what you like - I've kept several different varieties of mushrooms under PC lighting successfuly (but never less than 110watts)

thats what i figured, it would have been way to go to be true. I guess next time i go to the lfs ill see what the cheapest mushroom they have is and give it a shot. do mushrooms need marine snow and other particulates like that to survive?
P.s, i appreciate your input

Come on now, now you're just showing off your superior coral growing skills trying to make the rest of us feel bad
didn't you see where Joe said this is supposed to be for beginners? I'd assumed he was going to start a seperate LPS/SPS thread (but maybe I'm wrong
). One the other hand Henry, very nice!

Nope they will survive just off the lighting. Some species are more agressive (the hairys in particular) and will actually close up and eat things like mysis or brine, but most just use light.
No problem, happy to help out a fellow SW enthusiast.

Alright Henry, you threw down the towel, so here are a couple of new ones taken under actinic lighting - forgive the fuzzies - hard to get pictures without using a flash.
Assorted Florida ricordia

Green spot palys

Trumpet Coral

and Plating Monti(s)

Yeah I know Joe, but Henry did it first
!

It was, it was traded in when I re did my tank one time for some SPS coral. Now I wish I would have kept it. The LFS guy said the same thing, when I brought it in for trade he ended up selling it, now he wishes he would have kept it for his home tank.
