fluval 304

Hey, I'm new to the swf aqauriums, i was wondering what type of filter media should i be using in a fluval 304? I had put in the zeo-carb only to find out it's for freshwater only, now i have peat granular, along with amonia remover, and my water is turning a shade of green (nothing too serious... I hope) i was wondering what is the combination i should be using for ideal conditions? tks

I had this same problem a few months ago. Im going with a 304 on my 55 with a skimmer and 2 PH. The foam cartridges one side should be rinsed out with salt water everyothermonth. so do one side overmonth. The chamber on the bottom i put filter floss, It like 3.00 a bag. It has lasted me almost 3 months. The middle chamber someone told me to put a product called "BIO CHEM" it does the same stuff like activated charcoal but you can leave this in your tank 3-6 months. You might wanna read up on this what it does cause i cant rememebr. They might sell it her if not i got it at ***** for like 11 Dollars for one package. I put the between the divider in the second chaber with soe one each side( i hope you understood that). The top chamber i put those tiny spiral circle Cubes that came with it. i rinse my off with sw once in a while alaso. But never the same saide. When ever you clean ytou your fluval, try and clean out your Hoses too. i noticed when i turn my tank back on a lot of stuff flies out back into my tank... thanks man, that does help, I also use the rings that came with the filter, for the top basket, and half of the second, i think i'm going to go with the carbon, in the bottom half, i haven't had any problems yet, it's just with close to 2000$$ sunk in my tank the last thing i want to do is kill it all with stupidity! anyways thanks man i'll take your comments into consideration

I wouldnt use the carbon cuz it actually only works for like 3 days and then it starts to collect nitrates init. I dont know how good the lrings would de being seperated. The package that comes with it is meant for only one chamber, not too, if you want more i would go down and buyanother package then.
