Fluval canister filter HELP

I have got my 205 Fluval filter. :cheer: At the monemt iam using a aquaclear 300 HOB filter. I want to swap
it over and use the fluval instead. What is the best biological way to do this??? Run both of them for a week for the bacteria to grow in the new filter??? I dont want a spike to happen im my tank basically.
What is the best way to run this type of filter, what media?? My tank is a 45g

Let them both run for a while and you can even take some of the media out of the HOB and put it in with the new media in your fluval.
