Fluval Clearmax

Has anyone ever used Fluval Clearmax before (formerly Green-X). I'm trying to figure out if it's going to work for my tank. It says it's safe, but it also says to use with caution around inverts for an unspecified reason. What do you guys think... safe, unsafe?

i woud not use any chemical on my tank. what is the trouble that you feel you need some chemical help?

i've had an algea problem for like 2 weeks now ...my water has a green tint to it. my speak are good, amon=0, nitrite=0, nitrate=0.1, sg=1.0235, ph=8.3.
I've tried leaving my light on for less time per day, i went down to 5-6 hours, and 2 hours over the last 2 days. I've done a couple water changes ... but nothing.
The only thing i'm not doing is using ro/di water.
i'm getting desperate... that's why i wanted to try the clearmax.

You need to fix The culprid, and not rely on quick fixes or masks.
Your algea is fuled by impurities in tap/ water source..
Things to look for are phosphates, copper,nitrates.

i think you solved your own issue- "The only thing i'm not doing is using ro/di water".
i bet your water is full of nutrients.

thanks guys ... i went to the lfs and bought some ro/di water (50 cents a litre ... cheaper then i thought) and just did a 10% water change ... will do another in a couple of days ... crossing my fingers.

it will take a while to deplete what the tap water added. it's not going to happen overnight. just giving you a heads up so that in 2 weeks you don't think it's not working.

your tank is going to do better with the better water source, but it's definitely going to take some time to reverse the effects. you can do bi-weekly waterchanges if you like.
