Fluval sprung a leak :(

BOY am I glad this happened on a day I was home......I was in the other room maybe 15 minutes.....upon walking back in to the "fish" room, I stepped into a puddle

Apparently the out-put hose to the fluval got a pin hole......I now have it disconnected until Danny gets home from work :(
This is one reason I "USUALLY" buy different hosing :( Wish I had this time......BUT....on the bright side...I WAS HOME, so no major catastrophies
phew!!!!!

Yeah I know....and the 2 hardware stores we have locally do not have any hosing that fits the parts

I guess Friday we will have to go to Paris (TX) to HOme Depot.....It's not my only filter thank goodness

That sucks!
Where I live, I have home depot, lowes, tyner petrus / true value and some plumbing stores here and there I go to for all my plumbing / tubing parts. Always excess.

I hear yah. Yeah, I got an Ace in my city too. I never get to go anywhere on my lunch breaks. I end up eating and getting back to work, or going for a quick walk.

A pin hole???? Sounds like kitty did something....maybe he wants you to put the fish in buckets so he can go fishing.
Hoses fail at the connection points or they get brittle and develope cracks...not pin holes. I have run my Fluval off and on for 4 years and have not to date had to replace a hose.

Well actually FLower......you could possibly be right....LOL....the kitten is CRAZY....
BUT to tell you the truth the tubing that came with the Fluval is cheapo, and I have never felt completely comfortable with it..I usually replace all hoses with heavy duty clear tubing......so I am walking out the door to go to Home Depot to find better stuff :)

Well, I must agree with you there, cheapest of the cheap. So are you renaming the kitten...tank gremlin?

Ok, I have to ask. What size tubing? I'll pick some up for mine just in case......

1" I.d.
We had to remove the rubber Coupling (??) that went between the intake plastic tube (in the tank) and the old tubing to get the new hose on it.....BUT it fit great w/o that.....

HMMM....When I first got the Fluval I had issues with too much air coming into the tank......I had to lower the amount that flowed into the tank to control that.....and after about a month or so.....The filter broke in and I was able to run it at full capacity with no air bubbles
Well it seems I am back to that again.....LOL....BUT at least I know eventually it will break in

Wait! This isn't the fx5 that sprung a leak is it? Now I am gonna be watching mine very close!

Meowzer had a pin hole in the tubing...hoses do not just develope pin holes...a kitty was the gremlin this time. So unless you have cats, I wouldn't concern myself.
I keep all sizes of tubing from air line on up, just a habit I guess. It never hurts to have extra on hand.
