Foam in LR water?

I am trying to cure my LR, one week into the curing it was time to change the water. When I went out to change it I found foam (small bubbles) floating on the surface just like you would see in the ocean surf.

Are you running a protein skimmer? I know when I dumped my LR into the tank, a ton of foam like bubbles appeared within 2 days. I know the protein skimmer started working overtime...
Just a thought....given my new status, I could most certainly be wrong. But, it sounds similar to what I experienced with curing the rock.

This is fiji LR, purchased over the internet, it was shipped from sunny Cali. No I'm not running a protein skimmer in the rock. The rock has bright green stuff covering it and some red spots here and there. There are also a few tree looking things growing on a few pieces. I know its not cured yet because at one week it smelled pretty bad (like garbage).
