NM Reef, How did you get the colony of all of the different colored zoos together? Did you cut them and place them where you wanted to grow? That is absolutely beautiful! I want a colony like yours. Zoo's are my favorite and i'm going to be buying different colors when I find them. Thanks.

I've had zoos sort of change appearence for a while after getting them. I think different conditions can affect how they look and react. Lighting/circulation/water chemistry......subtle changes in any or all can affect how zooanthids look from size of polyps to coloration. Lots of times after I add a new frag it'll go down hill....but will eventually stabalise....then start to grow out...so I believe it takes time to let them adjust/adapt to the changes.....after that they normally establish and do really well.

...really depends on the species and conditions...some individuals can be relatively small and tightly packed...others can be dime sized or larger....mine are of assorted sizes as well as colorations.....
By the way y'all have posted some very sweet examples....thanks for the eye-candy contributions!!!!!

Normally when I get a new species/coloration I get relatively smallish sized frags....and place them near/amoung those I already have.....and I'm always looking for new types/colors.....as they establish they just sort of blend together.....nothing very scientific or even intentional about how they turn out.......I just have a general area where I want them to be and as I get new ones they join the garden. I have even managed a few frags with assorted colors on each one.....I just place a small piece of rubble in the midst of the colonies and wait a month or so.....then gently remove the rubble and there it is....a small frag with assorted zoos ready for trade.

Green Zoos with yellow centers mixed with some red zoos with yellow centers in the back ground. Second pictures are sun zoos. Polyp size bigger than a quarter with gold and green blend of colors. Third picture is of green zoos with pink centers.
