no i dont have a skimmer and yes i mean the top and ive had for about a month

is it oily? if so, u need a skimmer. saltwater setup should always hv a skimmer.
r u running carbon? what is in ur tank right now?

yea and when i add food it like breaks up then in the morning it back and i have fish only right now and yes im running carbon

could be overfeeding. u r not really giving enought info.

try adding a powerhead and point it at the top of the tank to break and mix it up.

surface agitation and protein skimmer with pre-filter better.
