comparing the "octopus" PCI-RPS 3000 rated at 400 gal,[are these in or out of sump or both?]to the ASM G4X skimmer I notice the ASM has a sedra 9000 {900gph?} the pci 3000 recomends 1-1/2 times systym volume. my tank 140, fuge 65, sump 35, total 240 at 1-1/2 that is 360 gph pump to run it? is this correct? what size pump should be ran? for the same type skimmers, both rated 400 gallon , why the big difirence in pumps. I am a little confused. thank you. can the pci be ran out of sump? thanks everyone! great site!

Willie...I have a similar display/refugium/sump but have total volume of about 300 gallons. The ASM's are excellent skimmers. Many people size the ASMs by using a size that is double their water volume (ie...300 gallons of water, use as ASM rated for at least 600 gallons). In my sump I have a 4x and a 4
running side by side..overkill, but they do a great job.......wish I had been smart enough to buy a '5' or '6' instead of having two separate skimmers. The '5' has two sedra pumps and the '6' has
three sedras. IMHO I would consider getting a '5' for your set up..It may be slightly overkill, but I doubt you will be dissapointed.
