hey guys, a quick question. i have all my fish (yellow tang, blue damsel, yellowtailed damsel, and a clownfish) in my quarantine tank treating the tang for ick. i feed them flake food every other day and once a week some brine shrimp, but i never see the tang eating. and i do not have any algae growth in my q-tank for him to pick at. what can i feed him? or is he eating the food and i'm just not noticing? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I'm with "Tacks"....get a veggie clip and put some seaweed selects on it. Mine loves it. He also eats a little flake food. I think the algae/veggie clip is your best bet as there is nothing there for him to graze on. He'll be able to snack on the algae at his leisure. If your tang is extremely shy, don't stand around watching where it's able to see you. Gotta be sneaky! ;)

Did I get a retarded "veggie clip"? Mine ALWAYS falls off the glass after several minutes and I have to do all sorts of things to get it out.
I suppose i should just tie a string to it or something :)

Seaweed selects or seaweed salad from the lfs is the best. I feed my yellow tang some every day on a veggie clip. It comes in thin sheets and I roll it up so the tang doesn't pull it loose on first grab. Or you can just float some in the tank if you don't want to mess with give the tang a place to graze on it.

LOL...when are you gonna splurge and get a new one? That's a pain in the butt! I'm sure your fish have had to close their ears more than once when that happens! :D Nothing to it but to do it. Stay away from the "retarded" kind this time 'round.
See ya! ;)

you could also attatch the seaweed selects to the rock with a rubberband or something. it may seem more natural to be on the rock rather than on the glass. but probably no more natural than being taken out of the ocean and put in a small glass box. :D

I feed mine seaweed on a veggie clip too. Its fun to watch the two tangs and the clown picking off it and the damsels trying to pick up the scraps. The Blonde Naso actually lets me pet him when he is busy eating.
