Is it cost effective or even possible to culture and produce your own phytoplankton? and if so where/how would you start this proccess. also what is needed to breed brine shrimp. Sorry was going through my LFS reciepts and not trying to be cheap but dollar-wise and if I can produce Some of my own food that could offset some of the cost and help me feel smart

It is possible and cost effective. However, it is very time consuming.
There are a few threads on here with DIY phytoplankton culturing stations.
Hatching brineshrimp from eggs is easy. Raising brineshrimp is a challenge. Breeding brineshrimp is nearly impossible.
