For all of you snake people...a must see!

I heard that if you ever get entangled with a constricting snake that gets the better of you, that if you can manage to jump in the shower and hose it with warm water, it will let go. I think I've seen some documentaries where people have a hose connected in their snake room for cleaning, and dislodging.
AW have you heard of this?
I agree, snakes have personalities, and vary one from the other. I can definitely tell when I need to be a tad cautious around my own snakes. This usually means that I haven't fed them before they actually get really hungry. I have two spoiled snakes who will only eat gerbils (which at times are hard to come by).

Vodka (along with any other hard alcohol) will immediately make any snake let go. It burns their mouth...but not to the point it hurts them.
And yes, Beth...I have heard of that, but I've always heard it as really hot water, poured into their mouth.
I've also heard of really cold water and other methods of water extraction, but have never heard of them working. It's mainly either hard alcohol or really hot water.

I actually heard about this on a documentary on a TV. However, the snake-keeper was not actually being constricted, only commented that warm water can be used. It wasn't in the mouth but just hosing down with warm water. It would probably have to be pretty warm, which, of course an animal that can not regulate temperature would find pretty uncomfortable.
Wouldn't alcohol be harmful for the snake if hit in the eyes?

What from what I understand...and people I've talked to, that have done it...it's really not harmful to them. You don't want pour ALOT on the head, but a little goes a long way, from what I'm told.
Fortunately, I've never had to do it, so I'm not exactly sure.
