Oh, now you're treading on hallowed ground as far as I am concerned!
Not really. It wasn't the voice that made Rush Great. It was the musicianship. This can be proven. Do you listen to Coheed and Cambria? If not, that proves the voice in rush was not what grabbed and compelled your attention. Claudio Sanchez sounds exactly like Geddy lee...............

What part of "of far as I am concerned" do you not understand? You have this ridiculously obnoxious habit of refuting other people's opinions and making it seem that your opinion can be the only possible correct one. That's why its an opinion in the first place.
And no, I don't listen to Coheed and Cambria. Have heard a few of their songs and didnt get into them. In my OPINION, Geddy Lee has a great voice, Neil Peartis one of the greatest rock drummers ever and Alex Lifeson one of the most underrated rock guitarists. Thats my OPINION and your argumentative bullshit isnt going to change that.

Actually, the credit goes to many of the older blues and jazz acts...for instance, "Whole Lotta Love" is a Willy Dixon tune, as were others that Led Zep covered. Pretty much any of the "pioneer" rock acts all admit the music they listened to were the old blues cats as well as what was coming out of Motown.
I've had the good fortune to have played with guys like Willie Dixon, Chuck Berry, Charles Connor (the drummer responsible for Little Richard's "choo-choo train" beat), Billy Preston, and a few others, and THAT's where it all came from.
As for Rush...that brings up an old musicians' joke: "DOOD...do you guys know any Rush???" It seems like there's always ONE drunk person who asks that, and the answer is always "no".

Rush fans always take things so personal. It isn't a debate or argumentative. It is a discussion. I am guessing an old man missed their meds.........
Darth (sheesh) tang
P.S. Neil Peart I agree with.

Nothing to do with being a Rush fan. Has everything to do with you continually taking a comment that is clearly a personal opinion and trying to prove why your opinion is the correct one.

Neil Peart, that guy can play the drums no doubt about it. Never was a huge fan growing up but caught them in concert back in 94 and definitely walked away with a new respect for that guy.

Yeah, because Iron Butterfly, Steppenwolf, Jimmy hendrix, Deep Purple, The Who, and Black sabbath never influenced or paved the way for future metal acts................
{Sarcasm off}

Or it could just be the underlying dislike towards myself........
You clearly missed my point.
Most rush fans love the band for their superior musicianship and song writting ability. Mr. Lee is rarely mentioned when discussing iconic rock vocalists. Was he good singer...sure. But my point was there have been several after him with similar voices. If it was the voice these other bands should be able to reach the same iconic proportions............That was my point.
Darth (all music discussions are strictly opinion based) Tang
P.S. Opinions can still be challenged.....

Music is forever evolving. The only real person who gets credit for anything is probably the first cave man who started hammering a couple of mammoth bones together because he was bored one night and then began screaming for really no apparent reason whatsoever and thought it was cool.

Hey
As far as screaming for no good reason while making a bunch of noise...yes!
hey, that noise kept man safe from dinosaurs and is used by our troops against the taliban. Metal, keeping men safe for a millenia!
