not reef crystal exclusive. I use seachem reef salt and wether I mix it for a day or a week I get a powdery residue on my containers and cloudy water. Needless to say it will be my last batch
here are some responses from seachem:
"Generally the clouding you are seeing is a result of calcium carbonate precipitation. It is usually caused by calcium in the make-up water, but if you are using RO water, this is not the case."
which is bull donkey because not only do I use RO water my water also passes thru a water softener before the RO unit which removes most of the calcium before it ever reaches the RO unit
and another response
"You can also avoid the precipitate by using a power head the mixes the water with less force. The precipitate is not harmful. That will not happen to everyone. For those using a particularly strong power-head to mix a
precipitate form."
I dont know if this applies to reef crystals but I have heard of reef crystals having a residue as well. I think I try a new brand of salt with every new bucket and each and every one has its own issue. still looking for the perfect salt (and I am not asking for much. high calcium and disolves completely)
