I plan to add about 25 pounds of lace rock to my aquarium as base rock to build it up.
I prshased the rock from a stone store and it is poris, but a bit dirty.
My question is: I know I have to soak/cure the rock before adding it. What are the steps for sdding this lace rock and time periods to make sure that it is safe???
Thanks for your help.

If it is just dryrock, that didn't come out of water, then just wash it off and toss it in yourtank..Curing is only needed for live rock.

Are you sure the rock is reef safe? I have used base, live and cellpore (which now that kent marine has it, is no longer available for live rock substitute.) I would be very careful about adding anything I was unsure of. You do not want anything leaching into your tank from some cheap rock. Remember, the cost of the LR is small compared to the critters and your time. I have learned the hard way that going cheap with bite you over and over.

I have heard of other reffers using this lace rock before also my buddy uses it in fw tanks. I think I should stil soak it in saltwater for some time.
any more input?

I've put about 20#s of lace in my 70gal. Its been going for quite a few years now. I did nothing more than rinse it off and cleaned out the holes with dirt in it. The fish love it now for all the holes they have to hide in.

I put about 10 lbs of dry lace rock in my 29 gal. reefish tank (in addition to 20 lbs of LR)about a year ago. Did nothing more than rinse it in water and dropped it in. Coralline has taken over almost every inch of the lace rock exposed to the light. It was kind of a drab dark grey when I put it in, but now it is a nice purple from the coralline. I will most likely buy more for my new (bigger) tank when I get it.
Hope this helps..MCF

just as a precaution I am soaking it in saltwater that I took out of my tank for a water change.
I will probably add it in a couple of days, this way any gasses or debris will hopefully be flushed.
