formalin side effects

i have given my fish three formalin baths and I have noticed that all of their fins are getting frayed and ragged looking. This must be from the formalin right? I am following the instructions on the faq. I also gave them a fw dip with formalin.
should I keep going? the black ich is still all over my powder brown

Formalin is a carcinogenic, which is why it is only used as a dip. I have not seen, nor heard, of adverse effects if the fish is dipped properly though. Is this fish by itself?

The instructions in the FAQ Topic do not include a FW dip with formalin.
I suggest you just follow the directions. Do the fish still have black ich?

The powder brown is the only one that still has black ich and it is still pretty bad on him.
I read in a sw book about fw dips with the formalin about 1/4 strength and I thought Id try it. But I have followed the instructions on your baths exactly. Youve never heard of the fins deteriorating a bit??
