What are you looking for here, do you need info on these lions?
Are you looking to purchase a lion, but are undecided what lion?
What size tank do you have?

Rykna, I was seriously looking at getting a Fu Manchu lion, but after a lot of reading and talking to other reefers about this particular lion, I decided against one simply because they almost totally require "live" food. Not a cheap lion either, but if you can deal with the daily feedings of live food or you can find one of those rare ones that will eat prepared food, go for it.

My Lion tank is a future project, I have a 55 gallon. The Lion tank will be a species only. One very spoiled Lion. I wanted to know more info about the care and such and also the personalities of the Lions.

fu-manchus don't have the best survival rate, and a volitan shouldn't be in a 55gal tank. i'd rather see a fuzzy dwarf, or even a zebra.

Well...i never wanted the manchus, someone else was asking about it.
The one I was most looking at was the antenneta, but every one so far hasn't been very keen on this fish. I also like the Radiata and the Zebra. Which one is the best choice for my first Lion???

I really like the Russell's Lionfish. They have always been very easy to feed, are very bold and social, and would fit in a 55 as the sole species if you have good filtration.

Zebra would be your best choice, 6-8 inches and require around 30 gallons, very similar to caring for a Fuzzy Dwarf. The Radiated is more difficult, requires pristine water, gets larger than the zebra and really should not be kept in anything smaller than a 65g.
I would not recommend the Volitan or Russell's, both of these lions grow large and fast. The Blackfoot just simply has a poor survival rate.
