FOUND A SEA HAIR?????????????

well i went to the beach today. i go every day but today there was a lot of sea weed.i was walking in to the water when i saw a thing i thought was a cross between a stingray and a nidibranch. well i got it with a net and he is now in my local tank.
really cool.
but dont know much about them except it called a sea hair looks like a moving rock when its not swimming. others wise when it is swimming it looks like a stingray with no tail.
can any of you help me learn more about this wonderful creature.

well i turned the light out and he came out he looks like a nidibranch reall cool but aren't most nidibranches posiniuos???
 
Well, i can tell you this. On page 355 of my organic chem text book they explain that alkyl halides rarely exist in nature. One of the few places they do occure is in red algae, which produce them because they taste extremely foul to fish. Certain sea hares eat this algae and turn the Alkyl halides into a different A.H with a similar structure. Unfortunately, this compound is more toxic then the ones exuded by the good ol' red algae. The A.H is sucreted in a slimy coat around the sea hares body. I haven't read too much more about these guys, but it sounds to me that the slime coat could be a problem for your other tank inhabitants. I would try and read up on them more, too make sure they won't foul your water.

my teacher got a red sea hair and put it in the school tank and the next day it layed eggs but none of them survived
