found a shrimp

im in the process of switching tanks over and when moving my rock i put it on a big tray so what everfalls off i catch it. so i found a little shrimp looking thing no more than 1 cm long, and was wondering if hes a pest or tkeep it in the tank, hope someone can answer me fast, thanks

I don't know of any pest shrimp except for camelbacks I guess kind of are. I'm sure there is a pest shrimp but he might just be a ghost shrimp.

Well if it is they are fine. they are mainly used as feeder shrimp for fish and such but they are scavengers.

well searching through this site i came across a picture that looks just like what i found there are mysis shrimp, so are they good and you think my clown will eat em if their food, if he finds them

The clownfish will most likely eat them. You probably have lots of these mysid shrimp living in your rock. I have a 29 gallon tank that's going on 3 months old and i've found a hatched nest of mysid. I mean hundreds of them. They are good to have in your tank. Quick snack if your fish can find them, but most of the time they will remain hidden in or near the rocks.

I bet you two are looking at amphipods and not mysis shrimp. Look at amphipods in the hitchhiker thread. They are good for your tank so dont worry about them, and yes your fish will eat them if they get the chance.
