Found this under a rock in my tank. What is it?

The jar in the picture above is about 2.5" wide, if that gives some idea of how big it is. Are flatworms normally harmful? It is the only one I have seen.

Is it a flattened mushroom coral?

IMO that is a big polyclad flatworm. I would not reintroduce that to my system.

Well that is not good. I put it back in right after taking these pictures and it quickly slipped beneath the crushed coral. Is it bad enough that I should try to dig it out? What is the risk of it being in there?

They are voracious predators of snails, crustaceans, and pretty much anything that doesn't flee. Your corals are safe.
