What are the requirements for keeping a fox coral??
Are they as pretty as I have read them to be??

So I have 3 watts per gal on my tank of pc lighting is this okay for them??
Also, if I were to get a single specimen, how long would it take for it to grow??
Are they as delicate as I have read while handling them??

Watts per Gallon is useless, PC don't penetrate well...personally I don't think its enough. for a fox coral

Thanks for your opinion. I think I will just stick with the things I have for my type of lighting.
I was just in my LFS today and they gave me for free a frag of some green star polyps. So now I think I will have some neat stuff in there for the time being.
Toadstools
Hairy mushrooms
Green striped mushroom
Red mushrooms
Red with seafoam green spots on it mushrooms
Green star polyps
Green button polyps

Good idea...until you get some T5's or MH...then you can keep anything.

I disagree with pc lighting not being enough for a fox coral. I had a beautiful fox coral that was under pc lighting for almost 22 months. I upgraded to MH lighting and I failed to cover it. Very sad day for me. Fox Corals do not like too much light. I have a new one that is somewhat shaded with a large live rock that is doing nicely.
They are slow growers, but pretty much adapt to their surroundings, as long as they are in a slow, but still moving, water flow. Here is a pic of mine. I would try it.

Won't be getting T5's as they don't come in the size for a 10 gal. MH won't happen either, to strong for a tank of this size.

Wow that is very nice, I just love this coral. I just might give it a try and see how it does then.

Tell us more about you tank. what size is it? How many total watts of pc lighting do you have? What kind of flow do you have? I agree with anonome you can successfully keep this coral under pc lights but if you give us the information we can probably help you on where to place it in your tank also.

Spanko as mentioned above it is a 10 gal, 3 watts of pc lighting per gal, been running for 4 yrs now. I use an aqua clear filter.
Tried a larger filter but it did not go over well in the tank, also tried a powerhead the smallest one and it was just to strong. My best success has been with the mini filter so I won't change that again.
I position the filter is the flow hits the middle of the tank and movement goes to either side of the tank gently. My corals are not blowing around the tank but gently moving.
I think I will give one a try, they are so pretty.
Thanks for the replies and opinions......
