foxface not swimming actively

well, i got my foxface on Sunday, and its skinny, but thats how i got it, and am planning on saving it, but it also doesn't swim like they normally should. i have kept a foxface before, and they are very active, but this one is slow and not very aggressive. my old foxface would tear everything up during feeding time, but this one waits till the food reaches near the bottom. its only been 3 days, but I'm still worried. should it be ok with time?

What happened to the last foxie? What sized tank do you have? What are the water readings for Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, PH, sg, and temp? A new fish, especially a foxface, is scared.

the last foxface was sold way back in the day since my tank exploded. almost put me out of the hobby.
well, the tank now is a 58 gallon. yes, i know, but the foxface itself is 2.5 inches, roughly.
Ammonia-0
Nitrite- 0
Nitrate- <5
PH-8.2-8.4
SG- 1.025
Temp- 77-78

You bought this foxie knowing that something was wrong? Do you know what? You didn't QT him? Only time will tell what is wrong with him. Look at him VERY often. Use a magnifying glass. Let us know what you see. Is there a reason that the PH and temp are not stable? What time of day do you check?

They're just shy at first. My Foxface was really shy for the first few weeks, then it became really outgoing, being right in the middle of the feeding frenzy, even steals food from the humu's mouth. Also a very fast swimmer. Give it some time. As long as it eats, you're ok.
Offer some algae sheets too. Mine really loves the stuff.

the temp and PH is in between there. i don't have lots of cash to get the super expensive stuff to get exact measures. they are stable nonetheless. i checked these yesterday, except the temperature, which i check everyday.
thanks RCreactions, i did offer algae sheets, but doesn't seem really interested, although he does nip at it here and there.
PS. yes, i knew there was something wrong, and i wanted to save it. very risky, since they don't offer a warranty on their fish, but i wanted to do the poor thing a favor, since i was hunting down for one anyway.
it doesn't have ich. i know that for sure right now. no diseases as it seems, just not very active.
and i don't QT anything, since i don't believe i need to, since if it does get ich, i will give it some harty food and it will fight it off. its a good technique i have used for years now, and only lost 2 fish in these past 4 years, and not because of ich, but some stupid reason that could have been avoided easily. BTW, these incidents occurred in a different tank. nothing has died in the present tank.

well, the foxface is behaving the same as all previous days. i will add, that he spends most of his time in the front of the tank, near the bottom. he does pick on the rocks, though, but only the ones near the bottom of the tank. i dont understand what is wrong. my other foxface did not act like this when i got him. any info is greatly appreciated
