Foxface Rabbitfish question

My new foxface rabbit fishes color does not alway look good. Sometimes it is fine, but other times he looks spotted and brownish rather then the bright yellow color that is normal. Is this a defense mechanism or is he sick?
My tank is a 55 gallon with 35 lbs of live rock and 2 inches of live sand.
take mates are:
Black Perculla clown
cardinal fish
Big cleaning crew

Quite normal. It can either be a stress reaction or a defense mechanism (sleeping camouflage, etc).
