Frag Question

I have a very large colony of Zoo coral. What is the proper way to frag this? I've never done this but this is a huge piece and I want to spread it through my tank.

Sorta smush a frag of LR rubble against it for a while... the zoos will grow onto it. Move that frag to where you want them... they will grow off of it and onto the spot you want them.

If you cut them right along the surface of the rock and do it properly, they should come off in a matt. IMO just placeing a rock right next to them and letting them spread on their own is the best way. :D

Some are easier to frag than others depending on the particular rock they are on, and how thick they may be. If they are on a smooth surface, with care, slide a new razor blade underneath the start of the mat (if it is a mat) then try gently pulling them off. Once off, you can easily take the razor and partition them up. After that, glue them onto small pieces of rubble patted dry with superglue gel. Although I must say, the best way is that described above. Letting them do it themselves by rubble placement around the mother colony. Make sure to put the rubble above the colony as they will grow best towards the light.

i think i'll stick with the "traditional" way and let them spread on their own. From what I've heard they grow pretty quick. Thanks guys.
