Frag tank lighting question???

i have a 125DT with VHO and halide combo, which gives me 9.3 watts/gallon. now i have a 20L-FT with VHO and halide combo also. this gives me 11 watts/gallon. so they are both around the same wattage and same type of lights. so acclimation from FT to DT isnt that bad....
but heres the question. i have and extra 440W VHO 4 bulb lamp set. so upon thinking with this light system i would have 15 watts/gallon on the frag tank. now i know the halide would be removed from the canopy, but i was thinking even though it is a higher wattage/gallon ratio, wouldnt more light be better for faster growing of the frags.....
i am going to keep my current VHO/halide combo on now. but just was wondering about this subject. so any answers would be greatly apprecitated.....
thank you

if it was 300w of T5's than i mite say i have more than i need. but with VHO. i dont see it as strong....300w of VHO is brite but not as brite as 300w of T5's with reflectors.

You would have to get corals used to the light slowly, and anything other than sps would probably bleach.

either light set up should be fine IMO. I would run the VHO;'s because it would be cheaper on the electric bill and more light, as well as being more even lighting over the entire tank as oppossed to high light under the halide fading to the sides, but that may be more practical if you want to be able to slowly acclimate your corals to more or less light.. that said I just plain like VHO's.

thanx reefkprZ, i to am a big fan of VHO's. i like the look they give off. as far as the tank, lite acclimation would be kind of difficult cause theres not to many hiding places for when i first get a coral in the frag tank.
i would imagine that two extra VHO bulbs would give off less or about the same heat as a 70w halide. well ill think about it and decide what i wanna do. thanx again everyone!!!
