i am setting up a 2.5 gallon frag tank i am using the 2.5 gallon minibow made by all glass. its the ones that come in different colors. uve probably seen them at lfs's because every lfs in my area carries them. i was wondering if i needed sand. sand only comes in like 15 lb bags and stuff and i dont wanna cause an ammonia spike in my tank by digging up some sand from there and i was wondering if i could go bare bottom??? also do they make pc lighting that small? it comes with a full hood and power filter. i will use it for fraggin mushrooms mostly. and some zoos maby. will this work??

should be fine depending on the lighting. I know some companies make a small 15 watt or higher pc bulb. It will be fine for your frags. Are you going to trade them? when i get my sump up and running i am going to keep my frags in there. HTH

It's really up to you, weither you want a substrate or a bare bottom tank. I would recommend a small 1" sandbed to provide some biological filtration, although I'm sure you could do just fine without the sandbed. It really comes down to personal preference. A 1" sandbed would provide just as much biological filtration as a 3" sandbed would.
also do they make pc lighting that small?

Yes. 2x 13wt Power compacts would be nice for a small tank housing mushrooms and zoanthids. Heat may be a slight issue due to the small water volume.

If you take out the bio-whell and replace it carbon it should work just fine. You may also want to add a small powerhead to the tank to provide some extra circulation throughout the tank.

Yeah, I know how you feel. Although, if you want, you could purchase some of my nature photography and give them to friends and relitives during the hollidays!...only $19.95 plus shipping and handling ;)
Take Care,
