Fragged xenias

I just fragged some of my impulsing xenias with the toothpick method and it looks kinda shrivled up is this normal and will it grow back while it ataches itself back to the rock..

Yes shrinking is normal. If you fragged them correctly they should be fine...

The method i did was first was i cut the xenia then i just putt the toothpick through the middle and onto a rock... :thinking: that should have been correctly..

I just drop a rock on the colony, then four days later 3 or 4 stalks of xenia on the rock.

So to increase size of colony i can drop a small rock onto my colony and it will grow more i only have 4 stalks..

I drop a rock in mine also. Xenia tends to grow upward very fast. Some people grow it up their back glass and razor it off to frag it.

Yep. It will crawl on the rock and where it was it will leave a small patch of pink goo. that will later grow into another stalk.

I agree, my xenias are always spreading like crazy. Just stick some rock rubble nearby and some of the stalks will either move there or some new ones will crop up. I generally like to place the rubble near but a little higher up because (as Tizzo said), they are always trying to move higher towards the light.

That's how my neighbor did his for me (put some rocks in his tank). His xenia grows worse than weeds do in my yard. He has to clean his tank out about every two weeks. They grow on the glass, power heads, rocks, ...
Mine started to gro but then stopped and some dies. Not sure what happened. The rest are looking better now.

I bought a xenia frag that was 1"x2", sat it on a rock, now it's about 8"x6". I would like to get this to spread onto some more rocks. is sitting the smaller rocks on the colony the best way to do it?
also, what's the best way to get zoo's and yellow star polyps to spread? I've had good luck with xenia and mushrooms, but my zoo's and stars haven't spread at all.
