Those are beautiful. The way i have done it is use a razor blade to scrape off rock, them put it into a shallow bowl full of rubble. set it in a very low current, and or cover with mesh net. it should attach to a piece of rubble, and then super glue to a bigger rock.

Hey Oceana,
I just traded some shrooms with another member. The ones he sent were free floating, so I'm trying the method of attatching them that you described. Teresa has your trick, too. I feel like I'm the last one to know.

you can also cut the shroom into 4 equal pieces with a razor blade, and then remove them from the rock and net them to there own individual rock. 1 shroom becomes 4 in no time at all.

Farmboy-
Those shrooms I sent you haven't attached yet?!?! I just put the ones you sent me in the tank (2 free floaters), and they've already attached. Not in an ideal place, but they are attached.
You might want to try rubberbanding them to a small piece of LR for a week. You can also try using a small tupperware with small holes cut in all the sides. Fill the tupperware with rubble or substrate, and put the shrooms in there. All 3 of these methods have worked for me.

I just recently fragged some shrroms. I just busted up the rock that they were on and wedged the peices in different areas of my live rock.
Question. My shrooms are getting enormous, but not multiplying? Any clue why? I have metal halide lighting.

They like where they are, they usually only multiply when they move from one spot to another. The ripped flesh that remains on the rock becomes a new shroom.
If you want more, move the rock to heavier flow (or point a powerhead at it). It will not like it and move to get away.

I've tried the powerhead thing and it may work for certain species of mushrooms.. but some of the mushrooms like fuzzy grass/hairy mushrooms do not seem to multiply at all this way. Nor do Ricordea... the best way for these is to let them split or... slice&dice.. slice&dice as 'cruel' as it seems/sounds.. is really the best way to frag shrooms..
The shrooms that work good with the powerhead trick are the shrooms that are more fragile than other shrooms like the ones listed above.. also with these types of fragile shrooms you can literally shred them up into several pieces and each piece will in time grow into a new mushroom.
I ripped apart one of those shrooms trying to get it off of the rock it was on.. literally was in 8 differnet shredded pieces, they all ended up getting blown around in the current of the tank until settling into a small niche where the current apparently is very low. Each piece now resembles a full mushroom and I feel in about a week each will be complete and ready for me to attach to a rock and sell to the LFS :)

Well the shrooms I currently have been to afraid to frag due to screwing it up---but they are 2x the size they were when I got them---and like someone pointed out in previous remark--they are not multipling---just getting LARGER. I really want to frag them b/c they are beautiful shrooms but I don't want to screw anything up---should I just leave well enough alone or try to frag. I currently have 14 on one rock---I'll try to load a new pic of them. I am just such a novice at this hobby I don't want to mess up  I am sure everyone has been through the do-I, don't I in this hobby. Thanks for any input.

One pic is under straight blue atinics, the other under both atinics and 10000k

you want to cut it as close to the base of the mushroom as you can. i guess you could use scissors, but i ve heard of a lot of people using razor blades

Razor blades or very sharp scissors will work great for shrooms.
Try to be sure you leave some of the shroom behind so that it can grow into a new one!!
IF you want to remove the entire shroom without cutting it at all. some time and careful lifting with somthing flat like a butter knife works great

I guess I will bite the bullet and try when I do my next h2o change---I like the idea of fragging into multiples as opposed to just getting one extra---is that more difficult? One of the posts said i cut cut into 4 pieces to frag---since I am a novice should I just start w/ trying to cut at the base for a single and grow back?? Thnaks in advance for advice.
