Fragging Acros

wet bar

Member
I am going to a friend's place tonight to attempt an acro fragging. The only problem is...neither one of us has ever done it before!
Any advice or suggestions on the best way to leave his coral in good condition, while grabbing a nice frag for my tank too?
TIA

Acro's are very easy to frag. I use a pair of wire cutters. Just cut the frag at a branching section then use superglue gel to re-attach them. Just be careful that that the glue doesn't run up onto the frag too much or that will cause tissue damage. You expect them to be harder than they are, they are actually kind of brittle so not much pressure is needed with the cutters. Get a good hold and twist while cutting the frag.
If you go to www.garf.org and look under their "propagation" section they have some steps to follow under the sps movie section - good luck!
