Fragging Leather Tree

UPDATE
Mama leather is doing great.....STILL BIG...but it is away from the bubble coral...maybe too close to the glass tho....I'll adjust later

these 3 frags are happy too....I am thinking I could cut a few more pieces off the one on the left

These 2 were happier..LOL...One is a stump (we shall see what grows out of it) The other is the one I am gonna grow out for my new tank...I had to move it...it was too close to all the others

I am thinking I could probably make a heck of a lot more frags out of these, I may cut more out of the one on the left of pic 2. Next time Mama gets a trim, I think it will be off the top

Thanks AL....Nice to see someone is paying attention :( I think in a day or so I may cut another piece or 2 off the bigger frag.......I am even thinking the one I am keeping for my new tank may be too big too....Now that it is opening.....Sometimes I forget how small they can shrivel up to haha

WELL....As these 2 frags perk up...I think I am definitely gonna cut some more off...LOL...At this time, they are over 5" tall.....the 1st one is the one I wanted for my new tank, but did not want to start it this big....I will cut them some more in a couple of days to give them time to recuperate

Did you just place them in the sand.
HAHA...NOPE.....I took empty cleaner clam shells.....rolled a ball of epoxy and placed it in the shell...took a toothpick....inserted part of the toothpick in the leather, and the other part in the epoxy in the clam shell.....then I placed them in the tank, and covered the shells with sand :)
the stubby one is actully in a turbo snail shell which in also under the sand

Lop off the top, the stem will regenerate a new cap. Cut the cap up like a pizza. All will regenerate a new piece. From my experience, the babies will grow faster than the stump.
