Peel the "mat" that they are growing on, or shatter the rock with a hammer and you might get some peices of star on smaller pieces. Got a wet saw? Cut the rock! No, really thats easy to do.

You have to carefully (no cutting yourself allowed) take a knife or chisel and cut the mat getting as close to the rock as possible. there will be loss, but the gains is better in the long run.
OR try this. Take a piece of rubble or shell and place next to the stars. They will move over onto that item in a weeks time or so.

No problem. here is a pic. of the green stars that moved over to a shell I put near them. Look at the green shell between the zoas and the shroom.

LAST QUESTION I PROMISE- and then when you get the "mat" off the rock, do you just superglue it to the shell or piece of rubble, and you have a frag? thanks for your help!

yes, dry the bottom off by dabbing it on a paper towel, the rock or shell the same way. Put your gel on the rock or shell and place the mat ontop. Hold in place a few seconds and then to insure good adhesion, just cover the frag with a wet papertowel for a minute or 2. Replace in tank. Good luck, where gloves and frag away.

Some times if you grab the very edge down close to the rock you can peel a hunk off the colony, worked for me, happened to find a lose piece at edge, and just sorta riped it up like old carpet
And yes, its easy to to glue to a rock, don't need to glue whole piece, just put afew drops on the rock and stick it on, the rest will adhere to the rock itself in afew days.
