Fragging Ricordea Yuma

O.K.,I have decided that the yumas is dying off, or is just in bad condition.
I scraped one polyp off today, cut it in half, and put it in tupperware in my tank.
I'm sure this is not the proper way to do it and was just wondering what y'all tips and tricks are for propagating them.
Please Help, I want to try to save them

Forgot to mention that the main reason I am fragging is because the mouths have mostly turned to holes...

I just took a knife to most of them.. :-
This sucks.. I really hope they will live
