I bought a damsel and got a freebie in the bag. Its a red miniature tree looking thing. I am not too sure what it is. I do have live rock so I stuck it in the sand by the rock. Does anyone know what this is? and is is safe for my tank?

I'm afraid I don't know what it could be, however, I can say with confidence that it will not hurt your reef. Is it soft or hard? How big? Does it have polps coming out? Does any part of it move?

It can be anything from a Bryozoan (sp?) to a Gorgion (sp?). How about a little more description and or a picture.

i don't have my cam hooked up yet. and the hubbys away so if I can figure it out I will take a pic. But its soft. the branches move. it looks just like a small branch from a tree.

I don't think it is. It doesn't look like the pics I have seen on this site. I think it may be a baby sponge or something. If it starts multiplyig like rabbits I will take it out. But it looks cute.

red gorgonian? ...Like a red stick with small palm-like fronds (polyps) along it's side, about 1/4 inch apart? If so, it's non-photosynthetic, and enjoys a medium current to get it's food .
