I am trying to get input on the care of this beautiful fish. I would like to get one, but not sure of the hardiness or care required. I have a couple tangs and a flame angel-will the butterfly get along with these? Any and all info is appreciated.

they aren't the hardiest butterfly, but they aren't the most delicate either. a mature tank would be required. they will probably eat corals. as with all butterflyfishes, make sure you qt and make sure the fish is eating well at the store and qt before it goes into your display. things to watch for in qt would be ich and especially red spots around the mouth.
it would have been bettter to add this fish after the tangs, btw.

these butterflies aren't the best choice even though they are rated at an 80 percent chance of living. reason i say this is that they are a very skiddish species that will hide a lot especially if there are species that will attack it which tangs might do. i know my copperbanded butterfly got attacked at first from the tangs in my tank. plus since they are skiddish they tend to discolor and get splotchy. they pretty much will eat any meaty fair that they can fit into their mouths though.

Thanks for the info. Any thoughts to keeping a Bluestripe with a Mandarin? I would hate for the Butterfly to eat all the pods in the tank. If so, that would be it for the manadrin.
