I know that angel fish are hard to care for, but there is one angel that I've wanted for a long time, and i have just got to have it in my tank.. i am jsut wondering how hard this fish is to care for, and what fish can be compared to the dificulty, the fish that im looking into buying is the french angel fish.. input would be much appreciated. thanks , joe.

you want to put it in your 44? please please don't... they need a good 150 gallon with 6 feet of swimming space. take a spiral notebook and thats how big they get one day if not bigger. as far as how hard they are is a matter of opinion. i'd say they arent any harder than most fish. they just require much more than some people are capable of giving. big tank, lots of live rock to graze on, and a varied varied diet. full size angels are huge seaweed eaters, formula 2 and spirulina formula, as well as meaty eaters. in the wild the majority of them will even eat corals. if you must have an angel look into the dwarf angels they will be much better suited to your tank.

I have had french angels before, I did not find them anymore demanding then any other angels, a 44 gallon tank is kind of small though, I would not put a french angel in anything less then a 90 and that might be stretching it a bit. What else do you have in the tank?

I kept a French Angel until I traded it to a LFS when I was forced to downgrade my 150 last year. It was a great fish that was easy to care for and spent the entire day grazing on the LR.

Nice angel. how big is it ? do you know at what size do they lose the yellow stripes? I'm debating wether to get a french or a queen.
