Yes, you can mince or crush fresh garlic and mix a small amount of juice with any food.
IMO Allicin breaks down in garlic products and also breaks down in the stomach so the only useful way to use Allicin is to inject it directly into the fish. Other than that I believe garlic sometimes can work to get finicky fish to eat. I would not recommend it for everyday use.

So even introducing allicin (as fresh squeezed garlic blood) with their food, we are not assured that the fish actually uptakes the stuff? The more I see about using garlic, the less benefit I see. My fish didn't seem to like the taste after the "new" wore off anyway.

I'm not a biologist but after extensive reading on the subject my opinion is that Allicin is not a factor when using garlic unless it is injected directly into the fish.

I soak my live brine shrimp in fresh squeezed garlic about a 1/2 hour before i feed.. my fish seem to love it.. i place the live brine in a butter container then sit a strainer measuring cup in the water and with my garlic press squeeze it into the water. Then about a ½ hour later I dump out the garlic except for a few small pieces then strain the shrimp and poor them in.. my sail fin will eat a few of the small pieces of garlic but they all tear up the shrimp. Plus in lets me feel like I am preparing a meal for them especially since I use garlic in just about everything.
