fresh to salt 10gal nano

I'm thinking abput converting my freshwater 10gal to a saltwater nanotank.
It MIGHT have corals, it will have LR, LS, inverts, an fish. I was also wondering if the nano tank reef package is for a 10gal, or if it would be too much, thanks. I plan on getting corals, fish, and such. If you could, post what I should get and the price range please, thanks for the assistance.

well the lights you wont have to worried about since you will have to wait for the cycle. as for filter i think an ordinary HOB filter will workout great. you could put a Koralia nano for flow in your tank or a Koralia 1. and what is the nano tank reef package your talking about? as for fish one small nano fish will work. like a clown.
i dont like since they are to common. up to you though.

Aquaclear makes really good hand on back filters...that's what i would use with a koralia 1 powerhead...

I'm only 15 so money is...well a problem, how much will the hardware transition cost (I'm not talking sand, rock, fish, etc. just filters, lights, etc...again...) my lights only add up to 45W (a 15 and a 30) How much light do I need? And this whole thing is still pending, its only going to happen if my parents finally talk about it!!! blargh... And if I decide to get a low light coral such as a mushrrom or a xenia, what must my light be at (wattage wise) thanks, and again I need a price tag! This is gunna be badass when its done!
I've always dreamed of having part of the ocean to call me own. I used to live in Florida but we moved to Colorado (I know...what the heck!!!!!) so I've always felt like I left a part of myself there...

That is a complete rip-off. Best thing I can tell you is start looking at craigs list, for people getting out of the hobby. This hobby costs money. Look into getting a aquaclear 70 to be used as a HOB refugium. What lights do you have? If you can use them that will save you some money, if not budget about $50 or so for a simple pc light set-up. You would be able to keep softies and thats about it. Read this...https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/160830/beginners-12-step-program
and this...

Best advice to someone with a very limited budget is research, research, research as you cannot afford to have to buy things twice.

oh well you really need nass snails, turbo snails, cerith snails. and for lights. if your tank light is 45w total you will be doing 4.5w per gallon. are the lights actinics with daylight?

I may do a nano invert tank with my 10gal, but how much do you think I can fit, I need more than 2-3 people's opinions!

Just saw a brand new nova extreme pro 20inch for 10gallon tank for $232.50 with bulbs...
15-20lbs of liverock @$2/lb if you search hard on craigslist or local clubs
livesand... maybe $20 total... get some established stuff out of another tank..
for power heads, use a Koralia 1 and an Aquaclear110 with a AC20 impeller on the back with a bag of chemipure and a bag of rowaphos in there... toss some chaeto in there too and use a cheap desk light with a 7w-14w CFL spiral bulb to grow the chaeto in there (this reduces nitrates and phosphates.) Also a stealth 50w heater.
You could always use powercompacts since you're on a budget, but unfortunately it is against my better judgement to recommend that stuff because once you go halide or T5HO you wont look back.

I already have a 10gal for freshwater, but I may just put everything in our 46gal, and make it saltwater. Thanks for the input rotary. And subie, I ment how many inverts you think I could fit?

what do you mean by inverts? corals or shrimp and that sort of thing?

essentially, yes, some softies, (either mushrooms, zoas, deffinately a torch!) Some skrimpies (shrimp) and some crabs, and maybe a goby, drogonet, Or a blenny. Maybe a clown. Its gunna be a softy/invert reef nano!

It didn't sound like there was much comfidence in that. If I wanted hards, how much wattage per gallon would I need?
not really good to go in terms of wattage per gallon... I keep a 150w MH over my 15gallon cubish tank... its 13.75inches tall, 2inch sand bed... the fixture is 8inches over the top of the tank. I put my orange digi (sps) on the sand bed... and it extends polyps... so I guess I can put sps on the sand bed lol...
for a 10gallon, that nova extreme pro 20inch 6x18w T5ho fixture which is 108watts total will keep anything you want in that tank.. or you could stick a 150MH over it for sps or a 70w MH for an lps&softie tank.. 150watt will definitely heat up the water on you though...
basically a 150w MH bulb at 8-10inches above water surface is good for lighting a 2x2 square up to like 15inches below the water line for sps... if that gives you indication of how much light you need... if this is your first sw tank, I'd recommend going with lps as they're much more forgiving and cheaper to maintain.
Also... I don't keep crabs in my display tanks anymore especially hermits because they're opportunistic and will consume snails for food and shells and other animals/inverts/fish if hungry enough. I wouldn't keep a dragonet in a 10gallon unless you got at least one other 10gallon to breed copepods... the rock itself in a 10gallon will not support a dragonet longterm..
