Freshwater tank

Still green as ever. The dishwasher didnt take the algea off the plastic plants so you can scratch that idea off the list of "why didnt we do this before." I ended up soaking the plastic plants in vinigar for a while and then had my daughter scrub them for a while. She didnt get all the algea off so its sitting out letting it die off. Thinking I might have to start that tank over from scratch. Question, I know I can keep the fish in a container for a while while I clean the tank, but how to I ensure that I dont get contaminated water back into the tank?

I would do it this way...
Have two seperate buckets, put your fish in one, after you clean the tank, net out the fish and put them into the second bucket to "rinse off" ...net them out of that bucket and release them back into your tank.

this thread makes me want to set up a little freshwater tank with some tetras and maybe a ghost shrimp or two.

I just remebered i have a pentagonal shaped 1g tank sitting up in my closet. Do you think i could have 2-3 neon tetras in there without to many problems?
