Fridmani Dottyback

Is this fish a good choice for a 30 gallon reef? I also would like to keep a firefish goby, sixline wrasse, and a royal gramma. Are they all compatable with each other?

I have an orchid in my 12 gallon & he's the best fish. He doesn't bother any of my hermits or snails. He's a very timid fish. I've had a neon dotty, & a red head dotty that were both very aggressive & munched on my hermits & snails. Had to get rid of them. I got the orchid because I read they were more timid. So far so good I've had him for over a year now. I don't know if I would put one w/ a royal gramma though. You're just asking for trouble.

fridmanies are totally different from other dottybacks, they are not as mean as the others... they juust look like royal dottyback but i wouldnt put both dottyback and gramma... one will probably die but other fish looks ok (maybe firefish also get chased)

I just added a purple dotty (Pseudochromis porphyreus) to my 28 bowfront last night. So far there is no problems but I know they can be scrappy.
My suggestion is to add the pseudo last so he doesn't gain territory before the less aggressive fish. I also have a fasle perc, bangaii cardinal and six line in the tank.

If the dotty back your askin about is the same as in the pic above, i would say not also. I saw one at my LFS and was interested. They were nice enough to not sell it to me cause it was very agressive. Supposedly moreso than the purple psuedos'. But then again, if others are having sucess w/ the f. dottybacks... why not try it.

are you sure you didnt see a strawberry dotty? frimdanies are very peaceful (as much as a royal gramma) but strawberries are very agressive, býth have same shape and similar colours

I second the 'no dottybacks in a community tank' vein of thought, although ive heard good things aboug the orchids.
waterfaller,
oh my gosh, your christmas tree worms are beautiful! did you buy them all or did they multiply in your tank? could you give us some tips (maybe in a different thread) on how you take care of them??

UPDATE:
The purple dotty I had in the 28 moved today to the bigger tank. He had taken a bite out of the six line's tail and was starting to chase him around. I think he'll do better in the bigger tank with the damsels.

Even though they really are pretty fish, I decided not to get the fridmani...I don't want to take a chance on something that might harm my other fish. :(

Some people get confused about the Fridmani Psudo and the Magenta Psudo. The Magenta is much more hostile. The Fridmani is the least aggressive of all of the Psudos, but it still might be a risk w/ smaller firefishes or gobies...

My Neon has been a community fish with everything that I have in my tank, yet picks on my clown goby.
Doesn't bother firefish, chromis, LMB, clowns, just a clown goby.
I think that I am planning on trading him in, or giving him to my father-in-laws tank. His fish would have no problem with the neon.

i went with the royal dotty today... the neon's are just too aggressive and supposedly these orchid/royals are the most docile of the dottys... we shall see.
