Frog Spawn

is this coral dangerous??? while moving my tank, i had to handle my corals, while moving around the frog spawn, i felt some serious burning in a few area's of my hand "lil cuts". the area's are now red, with a lil white bubble that seems like it's gonna bust. It hurts to close my hand since i'm infected at the joints. Should i get this checked, or should i be fine?
Hope someone can answere, thanks

Well, I handle my rogspawn all the time with no issues, but I can also handle poison ivy and such with out trouble. I'm wondering if it actually stung you or if it's an allergic reaction, in which case I would suggest a benydrill.
Either way, it doesn't sound good. Hope someone else chimes in here.
Does your town have a nurse hotline/helpline?

nah, we don't have doctor help lines. is the poison in these really that bad??? i've handled them with no problems before, but i had a couple cuts on my hands this time, and that's where i'm now infected. my hand isn't inflated like a balloon or anything, but it's pretty sore since it's in the joints "knuckles". it's red with a lil white thing that looks like "puss". i'm wondering if i should try popping it, or just leave it be.
I hope someone can help, if not, i'm gonna head to the doctors

if its infected that is more likely caused by your water,, the frogspawn dont have a slime that is able to get into cuts,,,
If you had the cuts to begin with it is more likely that you had an allergic reaction to the coral and that the water infected your cuts....

it isn't from the water though, i was moving all the rocks and everything else in my tank just fine. but as soon as i started moving the frogspawn around, that's when i felt it, very sharp stinging "on my palm by the thumb" and then when i moved another piece of frogspawn, i felt my middle finger knuckle scrape against those little spikes on the stem of the frogspawn, it was an instant sting.

More likely that you got stung by a bristle worm or two and now the water is irritating the stings and causing an infection. You could have stuck your hands in this tank a million times without any issues, it still doesn't mean that you're safe from infection if you have a cut, especially a very irritated cut or sting caused by something like a bristle worm.
If you have health insurance, I'd go to the ER just to be safe, especially if it hurts as bad as you say it does.
Some people are more sensitive than others. Keep in mind that there is a lot of bacteria in the water in our fish tanks. This is why it is suggested, although no one, including me listens, that we should where gloves while handling things in the aquarium.
Corals can cause wounds for the record. While I was in Turks and Caicos, I accidentally brushed my back against a large maze brain. The sting/cut didn't hurt bad at first, but it ended up getting very badly infected and I have a permanent scar from it along my spine. My mother also brushed against one and she was fine, so it all depends on the person.

hmm, well i've done a lot of research and i haven't really found any bad threads about this, so i'm guessing i should be safe, the pain isn't really that bad, it just hurts a lil when i try bending my fingers, feels like a fresh cut. i guess i'll wait a few days, and if it gets worse, i'll go in and get it checked. i just don't wanna wait in the waiting room for 4 hours for nothing.
Thanks for replies.

If it's bearable, I wouldn't want to be in the ER all day either. Keep in clean, flush it with some peroxide, put on some neosporin and wait it out.

It might just be an infection from the water..
I notice when I put my hands into the tank with cuts on them they get irritated also with red bumps. The stinging is due to the high salt concentration and the cut.. and the bump is just irritation... Mine usually goes away within a day or two.
I've touched my frogspawn many times to see how it feels or for maitenence reasons and I've never felt anything..

Frogspawn can sting. My local reef club's last meeting we actually had a dermatologist come in who showed us all the kinds of infections/stings/bites (amazing what a hungry snowflake can do to a hand) you can get from your tank. I now have purple medical gloves. There are a lot of things in the water, but the gloves at least protect me from stings and more minor bites. I suggest the same to all :)

I don't see how it can be from just the water, since my hands were in the tank for roughly 20 mins before any of this happened. it was once i touched the frogspawn, maybe there was something on the frogspawn, but i dunno, it didn't look like it.
ah well, my hand is getting better, the redness is going away, all there is now, is a bubble of "pus", which is very sensitive when i touch it. I'm thinking it'll be gone by tonight.

forgot to update, sorry.....
the pain ended up going away in a few days, and my hands "fingers" healed on its own, i'm sure i should of put some cream on, but i'm hard headed. anyways, for other people that encounter this reaction, don't worry, you'll be alright :)
