I jsut got my first coral yesterday, how does it look, sorry the pics are poor, but does he seem happy here in this location? This is a pic of him this am with lights on 2 hrs Do I need to do DT's with this coral?
He is under MH lights 3.5 watts per gal, midway in tank, med water flow.
lights set on straight 12hr shift is that to much/long?
water all at 0
salt- 1.025
ph- 8.3
Cal- 430
Temp 82 with lights on
water change every 2 weeks plus top off RO/DI water
I feed my fish 1 time daliy very small amounts. I use mysis I pour as they eat up the first pour, nothing falling to bottom, then after they get their fill I pour just a few more shrimp, because by then my stars are reaching for the share, and what the may miss the crab & Shrimp gets.
are my habbits good or bad?

Looks like a happy and healthy frogspawn to me

I dont think you need DT's, maybe cyclopeeze once a week or so.
I only run my MH for 7.5 hrs daily, but if you arent having any problems with cyano, algae or temperature, then you dont need to cut the hours down.

Looks like a happy frogspawn. Remember that since it is a LPS coral it will get about 99% of its nutrition from the lights. I have a frogspawn that has been with me for over 2 years (15 heads) that I have purposely fed maybe 2-3 times when I first got it. Very easy coral as long as the lighting is good, which yours seems to be. Good luck with it. You will know if it is not liking something...closes up for days. Mine will close up if the fish race past it too quickly, but will open right back up when the coast is clear!

They look great!
I have pc's and I had to move mine to the top tier of the reef and since then, are doing much better. I feed my tank dt's once a week (for other coral), but as stated above, they will use the light more than anything. Good luck!

You can turn your pumps off and drop it on them, or they will grab some when you feed the tank.
