Frogspawn question??

I just received a frogspawn frag yesterday. Of course when he shipped in he was sucked inside. Well a couple hours later he was out and pretty. Then when the lights went off and the moon lights came on he deflated. Now this morning when the actinics are on he is sucked inside again. Is this normal? Will he come out as the day passes? Thanks

Was it retracted all the way or just most of it with the just the tops sticking out? They do inflate and deflate from day to night, but if you're seeing skeleton on the heads when deflated, I wouldn't think that it is a good sign. Mine usually takes about a half hour or so when the lights come on in the morining to fully expand. Good luck, I hope it does OK for you.

Well I just got home from work and it is still deflated. Not all the way sucked in cause I still see the tips hanging out. I dont know if it came out today at all but I am getting worried that it might not make it. It was fine yesterday, i dont understand but hey it could be normal since it is new.

I know it's not a good pic but here is what it looked like all day. i thought I had too much direct current so I moved the power head. Like I said yesterday it was just fine.

give it some time to come around it may just be getting used to the tank...mine will inflate and deflate when the lights come on and off and it usually takes it a while to get opened up when the actinics come on in the morning

Not quite yet. Give it some time like suggested to get used to your tank. Mine gets blown around pretty good, doesn't seem to mind. Keep an eye on it, I'm sure you are, if you start seeing more of the skeleton on the head/mouth area or it turning into a jellylike slime, I'd say it is going to die or already dead. You could try Iodine dips if you suspect infection, look closely for other types of pathogens that may be bothering it. Good luck, I hope it looks better today for you.

nah...it looks ok now but if you start to see like tripp said a brown mucus or slime forming over it then it is dying or the skeleton is showing to much but more than likely it is just taking some time to get used to the tank

!! My frogspawn pulled out and looks really good now. I see two mouths on it, does that mean it is splitting? Do they split or just grow out a baby? I put it down on the sand and it opened up better than ever. I think it will do good as long as I keep it up.

you may have been having an issue with the lighting intensity - if it came from lower lighting then high lighting will shock it - thus when you placed it lower in your tank it was not under such stress. Frogspawn typically enjoys medium light and low to medium flow.
